Account with Joseph and Asa Dupuy: Prince Edward County, Virginia, 1819-1823, 1830.

This is an account of supplies purchased by General John Purnall for Joseph and Asa Dupuy between 2 September 1819 and 1 September 1823 and drawn up after his death to settle his estate. A yearly total plus interest accrued up to 31 December 1825 equals $1,100.32. A certified statement by Joseph Dupuy, 17 May 1830, declares that the account was transferred to his brother Asa Dupuy when they dissolved their business.

John Purnall was an officer in the Virginia Militia, commanded the 11th Brigade, was a justice of the Prince Edward County Court and a member of the House of Delegates, 1791-1813. Asa Dupuy was a justice of the Prince Edward County Court and a member of the House of Delegates, 1820-35. He was a lieutenant in the War of 1812 and a trustee of Hampden-Sydney College, 1831-48.
